Spoof Sales call ?

Just received a call from an alleged Sales person on 08000529406 trying to upgrade my package due a great offer running out today. I didn't believe the caller so I hung up. 

My question is really this. If it was a genuine sales call how did they call on my mobile number as the only number registered on my account (as far as I am aware) isn't landline number.

Can someone confirm this is correct or isn't mobile number stored elsewhere. By the way my mobile contract is not with Virgin media.

    Mis typed in the above. Should read the only number registered on my account is my landline number not isn't.

    It is possible the call was not from VM but was a scam call where the caller ID had been faked to match a VM sales number.

    Scammers routinely use automated dialling software to call blocks of numbers in turn so your mobile number may have been dialled in that way.

    If you think VM should not have your mobile number, that might lend some weight to it being a scam call.
