HELP! Low Speeds on Gig1 HFC and high Post-RS Errors
Hello, I have GIG1 fibre HFC with the Hub 5 and I am not experiencing expected speeds both wired via Cat 6 and Wireless. Even on a Wi-Fi 6 Enabled device with a 1GB network adapter right next to the router I experience around 300MB - 350MB, and I occasionally do have dropouts on the network although none in the past day. This has got worse as compared to the 600MB I was previously receiving on the same device in the same location. I've taken a look at power levels and I believe these are fine based on Sephiroth's post (albeit this is outdated but I believe still true), however I am experiencing high Post-RS errors especially on Downstream channels 2 through 8 (where power levels are higher than the others), and channels 21 and 22. I am also seeing some MDD message timeouts. I was hoping someone could help me interpret the raw data to help me provide VM with a description of the issue so I can get this resolved via an Engineer if required sooner rather than later. As above, recently got upgraded to a SH5 from a 3 - now I'm having issues every day with it - the connection will randomly drop out on the incoming side once or twice a day, with a lot of post-RS errors (it's often much, much higher than these which are the current ones): The wifi is terrible too - it'll often drop the 5ghz network completely and everything will drop back to the 2.4ghz network, sometimes everything reconnects, other times nothing will work until I change the channel back and forth on the router and let it all come back up (even worse, the channel changing bug where it won't change channel unless you also change channel width and then change it back, is STILL there in the software and that's a bug I reported probably 4-5 YEARS ago, come on, really?!) Didn't have any issues with the SH3 like this, possibly a faulty SH5? Anyone had similar issues? I'm also getting awful speed drops, even when the errors on the incoming side stop accumulating, I'll have maybe 60mbps download speed, instead of 1000, and nothing will fix it bar power cycling the router.1.2KViews0likes10CommentsGig1 only hitting 250mbps
Hello, I had my gig1 package installed yesterday, was told that i should get anywhere between 400mbps and 700mbps via wifi by my engineer. It has not gone above 250 even when next to the router and frequently im getting performance as low as 40mbps. Any time I contact via livechat they effectively tell me that everything is fine even when i hit an all time low of 6mbps. Failing this I'm told to wait 48 hours as if that will magically do something. Realistically should I just cancel before I'm locked into £45 for speeds that only sometimes hit a quarter of their advertised rating. I'm aware that I'm not going to see the highest speeds without ethernet but this feels like I've been conned.1.5KViews0likes3Comments
