HELP! Low Speeds on Gig1 HFC and high Post-RS Errors

Hello,

I have GIG1 fibre HFC with the Hub 5 and I am not experiencing expected speeds both wired via Cat 6 and Wireless. Even on a Wi-Fi 6 Enabled device with a 1GB network adapter right next to the router I experience around 300MB - 350MB, and I occasionally do have dropouts on the network although none in the past day. This has got worse as compared to the 600MB I was previously receiving on the same device in the same location.

I've taken a look at power levels and I believe these are fine based on Sephiroth's post (albeit this is outdated but I believe still true), however I am experiencing high Post-RS errors especially on Downstream channels 2 through 8 (where power levels are higher than the others), and channels 21 and 22. I am also seeing some MDD message timeouts.

I was hoping someone could help me interpret the raw data to help me provide VM with a description of the issue so I can get this resolved via an Engineer if required sooner rather than later. Please see below information. Thanks in advance!

Check the Service Speed  to the VM Hub vs. the Speed your device draws data.

The speed at the VM Hub should reflect your subscription.

    https://www.samknows.com/realspeed/

Once the test begins click on: Run full test
to include: Latency, Jitter, Packet loss & Upload speed

Please share a screen shot of the full test.

The same “Samknows Realspeed” tests are available as very handy
apps for iPhone/iPad and Android mobile / tablets.

Service speed to the Hub is spot on.

It is not uncommon to see Wi-Fi speeds being slower.
Wi-Fi results are very device dependent.

But also look at the extra Latency and extra Jitter over Wi-Fi,
this is why for use of Video Calls & Game play Wi-Fi is best avoided,
even if that means buying a USB 3 to Gigabit adaptor for slim laptops.

Far too many PosRS errors.  Reboot the router and keep an eye on these, if they continue to rise in number, there is an issue on the line, most likely noise ingress.  Check the connections and make sure they are "finger" tight as loose connections can allow ingress.  Other than that, a VM tech will need to find and fix this.

I rebooted it last night and I am seeing Post-RS Errors increase on the same channels, except 5 is clear for now, but I've checked all connections and they are tight. I do need to request some WiFi boosters from Virgin to improve device speeds, but a concern is definitely the Post RS Errors and random speed drops I am seeing to the router as this does seem to fluctuate, I expect this is due to the noise on the line.

Just as a consideration, the router was rebooted a week ago so the large amount of Post-RS errors are within that week.

Hey XKN3, thank you for reaching out and a warm welcome to the community, we are so sorry to hear about your connection issues.

We've taken a look and we can see your levels are very healthy, how has it been since Saturday any improvement?
