Ring doorbells
My Ring Doorbell 2 no longer connects reliable to VM Hub 5. This has only been an issue since last week. If I plug in an old 2.4ghz router as an Access Point with a different SSID, into one of the ethernet ports on the Hub 5 and connect the doorbell to that then it works 100% reliable as it did. I tried reset of doorbell to the Hub 5 with separate bandwidths and it does work ok. But as I have Pods, then I have to have combined and optimisation on. The doorbell works for about an hour, and I assume the algorithm then manages the channels etc., and then it stops working. So I have a workaround - additional access point dedicated to the doorbell (hidden SSID). Ring support similar to Virgin Media aren't interested as its old tech ... Ring did hint if I purchase one of their newer doorbells then it handles 5ghz better .. Of course they do, as it will create additional sales but maybe I'm just being cynical.35Views0likes3CommentsRing Video Doorbell 2 intermittent connectivity
Since yesterday I noticed my Ring Doorbell is not capturing video, also when I try to use "Go Live" it doesn't connect. If I reboot the doorbell via the Ring app then it connect for a bit, but then it loses connectivity. I have restarted my Hub 5, and also the Home Wifi Plugs ... and no other issues with my home network. This is the only device that seems to be effected. I did read sometime ago their was a connectivity with Virgin and Ring .. could this be what is happening??44Views0likes4CommentsVirginMedia Hub 5 Ring Connection
Hi All, I need some help connecting my RING devices to a VirginMedia Hub 5. I've seen some previous threads concerning this, so have followed the comments made by doing the following; - Logging in to my Hub 5 online - Separating out 2.4ghz and 5ghz by renaming the fields xxxx_24 and xxx_5 (same password) - 2.4ghz settings: channel 11 (I've tried channel 1 too) and channel width 20 MHz (the other option is 20/40 MHz) - Turning off Channel Optimization - DMZ disabled - I tried disabling the firewall (as instructed by RING customer support), but this failed too. When I try and change the broadband settings on the RING I can see the xxx_24 network, but when I try and connect to it, it runs to 95% and then errors out. I have another broadband line that the RING is connected to at present which is Vodaphone. It connects to this no problem at all. I want to cancel the Vodaphone broadband, but can't do this until I can get the RING connected to VirginMedia. Any help to solve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone managed to connect RING to a Virgin Hub 5?Solved694Views0likes3CommentsRing Door Bell Problems
Anybody else started having connection problems to their Ring devices in the last few days? I have 3x devices a doorbell and 2x stick up cameras, had them for a while now and they’ve been working perfectly, then all of a sudden a couple of days ago I’ve started to get intermittent problems connecting to them on the live view. If it was one device I’d blame Ring, but for all three to start having connection issues I’m more inclined to think it’s the VM hub. I’ve checked the settings and the required 2.4 ghz network is working, seen on another post on here changing the channel to 6 can help but not made a difference. is there a way of finding out if the hub has had a recent software update? thanks1.3KViews0likes2CommentsWhen I Play on XBox Connected via Lan, My Ring WiFi Camera Always Disconnects!
As above. I'm on the 1GB service, but every time I play online, my Ring camera loses internet connection and only reconnects when I log off Xbox. I have the Hub 4 and even though I upgraded to 1GB, I was told there is a shortage of the newer routers that new customers are given. So I didn't get one at the time of ordering. The ring camera is connected via wifi. The xbox and tv via Lan cable. Any help or advice would be great, because webchat is disgustingly slow.335Views0likes1Comment
