Telephone disabled in new Hub 3
I recently received a replacement Hub 3 for one that was showing a solid red light, but I've just discovered that the phone is not working. History, the red red light appeared on the old Hub 3 about Jan/Feb 2024 and it came with some WiFi issues intermittent loss of signal/slow down in speed/loss of internet. So I brought myself a router and switched the Hub 3 to modem mode. And everything worked. This year my contract was up in May and I finally got around to getting a replacement. The first one to turn up was damaged in transit (There was something loose inside the Hub). The second turned up I plugged it in changed the password and switched to Modem Mode. And then I went away on holiday. Today I go to use the phone and no dial tone. Signed into the Hub settings and it says Telephony (Disabled) Is that because the Hub is in Modem mode, or is there another problem? Thank you for your help43Views0likes8CommentsNo Dial Tone
We had a message on our home number which said 'Check Phone Line' and there is no dial tone. All the cables are fully in the sockets with power and new batteries. I suspect there is a fault as we had crackling for a number of days before the phone went completely dead. How do I book an engineer? I have started receiving a lot of calls from supposed UK mobile numbers (a different number every time), 20 calls to date, all between 09:00 and 17:00 Mon-Fri. Initially we answered the calls as we did not know who was calling, lately we have just let them go to voicemail. When you answer the phone it is always someone saying they are from Virgin Media and that there is an issue with the broadband connection, when challenged to tell me who I am and where I live they immediately hang up. The calls are from a call centre, you can hear the chatter in the background and appear to be from (I'm guessing) India or similar. It is very annoying and worrying as my wife's parents are both nearly 90 and not very well and they are normally the only people who ring us on the landline - we don't give the number out anywhere as we use our mobiles for everything - it stresses my wife as soon as the phone rings before you can see who the caller is. How can we stop these people calling? Hi, I have received a txt from VM saying that my landline number is going to change even though I requested to keep my old one. its originally a VM media number, so I can't see why it needs to change. My new kit arrives tomorrow and I would really like to know how to keep this number, we've had this number since it changed from telewest. I have been having problems with my landline voicemail, people calling in are claiming they cannot leave a voicemail after it rings and I have listened to my voicemail in 1571 and they are leaving messages but there is no audio in the voicemails and they last only a few seconds. Hi I have noticed my Landline Voicemail is no longer recording messages left. I have tested this by phoning from my mobile and leaving myself a message but the message appears not to have been recorded. I’ve noticed my landline isn’t working - just has a constant screeching sound - which having followed the troubleshooting steps suspect is the wiring in/into the socket. Account states no problems with line. Received the email about the digital switchover ages ago but not yet enabled - wondering if it is possible to request a switchover to resolve the issue. Website has no details and chat can’t do anything for landline other than point to the website or provide a phone number. Hello, I switched my provider from Sky to Virgin on the 3rd January and have landline, TV and broadband package. On installation I was surprised to hear that I would have a temporary phone number until my existing phone number was ported. The engineer said this would take 2 - 14 days however this was not communicated to me at all when I agreed to the package. My phone number has still not ported. When phoning the number, it says this number is not recognised or it is unallocated. I run a business from home and my landline is used. It is on all my marketing materials and stationary and therefore I really need my previous number back and don't want it to be lost. Please could someone look into this for me?
