Hopefully VM will upgrade my modem ASAP, it’s so annoying when you’re paying £60 a month and mobile devices keep losing WI-FI connection constantly. This also stops WI-FI door bells and cameras working so you can’t access them when you’re out and about. How to request a new modem? Hi, I’ve been on Virgin Media for some time now and I still have an old Super Hub 2 modem. It’s not been working properly for a while now, the WI-FI keeps failing and you have to reset the device quite frequently. I’ve done full hardware resets pressing the tiny button on the back with a pin but this doesn’t stop the problem recurring at some point. How do I go about requesting a new modem because I can never get anywhere trying to phone Virgin Media? Cheers, Chris Re: SMTP Outlook / Windows Live / Windows 7 / SSL Problems - WORKAROUND I’ve messed around with this for ages, following tutorials online on how to enable TLS 2.0 on Windows 7 but none of it seems to work for me. All works fine on my Win10 and Win11 machines but I can’t enable SSL/TLS on Win7, it just fails to communicate. Works fine with SSL/TLS off thought as a non-secure connection. Looks to me that TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 has been disabled on the VM servers. Re: Email account problem AGAIN!! >May I ask if your emails are all fine on the webmail? Yes, I have three VM email addresses and I can send ok using webmail but using eM Client I can only receive via IMAP but I can’t send using SMTP which has been setup and working for a long time until now. I’ve also disconnected my Laptop from my VM connection and logged onto my mobile hotspot which is connected to Tesco Mobile and still have the same problem. Strange thing is, I also have my three email addresses setup on Samsung Email client on my mobile and two of them will send via SMTP but one of them has stopped working like on the Laptop. All settings are correct and have been correct for some time so obviously some changes have been made server side which have broken things. Re: Email account problem AGAIN!! I’ve had this problem for many days now and so many other people too. It’s clearly a server side issue and nothing to do with email clients etc. It doesn’t matter what email client you use or connection you’re logged onto, SMPT protocol is down (for most anyway) and only VM technicians can fix this server side. You don’t get a mass number of people reporting the same problem if it was user side at fault! Makes me think that VM are deliberately trying to get us to ditch using their email system as you can no longer setup new email addresses and new customers to Virgin Media don’t get the option to setup mail boxes. These problems keep reoccurring and VM are lousy at getting things fixed at speed, email is pretty important for some and they don’t give a toss! Enough said!!! Re: SMTP not working on all email Accounts? (Can't Send emails, only receive) It’s a good job I have backup email accounts because when Virgin Media goes down, they are useless at getting things up and running again in a short period of time. I don’t even bother trying to speak to anyone on the phone at Virgin Media, I’d get more useful information from a Tortoise. I’ve worked in the computer industry for years so I know how to get things working my end, and I don’t need to go through endless procedures they want you to go through from a list, I know it’s not going to work. It’s usually always server side at fault. Oh, and still not working here either!!! 😞 SMTP not working on all email Accounts? (Can't Send emails, only receive) Hi, I'm having problems sending email, IMAP is working fine so I can receive ok but all of a sudden SMTP has stopped working on all my Virgin Media email accounts so all email is stuck in the Outbox. Anyone else having this problem and are Virgin Media aware of this? Cheers, Chris
