Only a small number of channels use Sky's AdSmart system (which is also available on Virgin) and it's not possible to reset it in any way. Sky customers can disable it but not sure about Virgin. Re: Static IPs? Static IPs aren't available for residential customers, however IPs are very "sticky" on Virgin Media and rarely change. In 12 years with VM i've only had about 5 different IPs with each lasting for 2-3 years. Re: End of Contact offers for renewal They have to let you know the new customer price for an equivalent package, but don't have to offer you the same price. It is to encourage you to shop around and change provider for a better deal. The government have recently asked Ofcom to look at this issue again (they work very slowly so don't expect any quick changes), but should they decide existing customers must be offered the same price as new customers, the new customer price will just go up. Liz Kendall’s Key Recommendations for Ofcom Look at in-contract price rises again. Undertake a “rapid review” on how easy it is for customers to switch providers. Deliver increased transparency in telecoms bills, which could follow the same mould as “recent changes on electricity bills” to help highlight the costs of specific components of those bills. Consider the possibility of adopting a similar regime to those such as insurance, where new and existing customers need to be offered the same deal. https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2025/11/gov-push-ofcom-to-tackle-mid-contract-uk-broadband-and-mobile-price-hikes.html Re: Virgin Media logo on Sky Sports No, it's a small logo in the bottom right that identifies the platform (a pint glass in commercial venues, Virgin Media icon on cable, a tablet/laptop screen on Sky Go etc). https://mindyourdecisions.com/blog/2016/12/13/game-theory-applied-why-is-there-a-pint-glass-in-the-corner-of-tvs-at-pubs/ Re: Just joined Virgin Media but 3 days in and problems. Your image has been removed but what is the RealSpeed test result to your Router? The previous ones seem to show the speed is fine between the internet and your router but something is wrong between the router and device. Re: Just joined Virgin Media but 3 days in and problems. Yes, the test shows the Virgin Media connection is fine and exceeding the advertised speed, so it certainly isn't being affected by the fault listed on the status page. However, there is something wrong between the hub and the device. What device are you testing on and is it wired or WiFi? Re: caller id bleeped Just for future reference, that is incorrect. All European countries including the UK and Netherlands change time on the same date (Last Sunday in March/October). Re: Ring Doorbell 2.4ghz All Virgin Media hubs support 2.4Ghz so there shouldn't be any need for your own router just to make the door bell work. Re: Traceroute through New York? How are you running the traceroute? It looks to me like you're running a reverse traceroute from a website based in the USA, that works its way backwards to your connection. It doesn't resemble a normal Virgin Media traceroute at all. Edit: I suspect you're tracing your own IP using https://dnschecker.org/online-traceroute.php is that correct? That will not provide a normal traceroute. You need to follow these instructions to do it properly: https://supportcenter.lexisnexis.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/1088078/~/running-a-traceroute Re: Pin removal I'm a Sky TV customer and they have the same Ofcom mandated PIN requirement before 9pm. The issue comes up a lot on their forum, for example https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/It-keeps-asking-for-my-pin-on-a-lot-of-programmes-but-i-switched-off-the-pin-on-settings/m-p/4584620
