Sigh. Cannot connect via Gmail "blacklisted IP Address"
Tonight, emails to my Blueyonder address stopped coming through my Gmail app. To connect I use VM's POP3 settings which they seem happy to keep messing about with. Now I am getting: "Authentication error. Server returned error "[AUTH] Temporarily blacklisted IP Address - try again later" I've tried with/without VPN. I've tried through mobile hotspot. What on earth ARE you doing VIRGIN? Your EMail system is in total disarray! We have three laptops, all up to date on Windows 11 and all using Outlook to access. Each one is now suddenly treating the connection very differently! Only one is now working to a virginmedia mail address, so forget it being only a legacy address issue. That one also still currently works to a very busy ntlworld address used for Freeware user contact. The other two have totally differing actions from the same virginmedia address, one now telling me there is unread mail, but not displaying it on Outlook OR online web access. This does not include one ntlworld connection severed without warning a year ago now, Despite numerous requests, NO help given, NOTHING offered. This was my wife's account used for extensive volunteer work, inc elderly and disabled people access. Killed stone dead without warning. It took months to get an alternative EMail system working elsewhere as many mail recipients just could not cope with the no warning sudden loss of all comms. SO, from other posts here and elsewhere numerous people are increasingly experiencing this sort of disaster from VIRGIN. Well, there IS a next stage if this unhelpful lack of action continues, and that is to go VERY public. Ok, what's changed guys and what are we expected to do to resolve it or are you rolling back your change since its broken everything ? I have multiple email accounts (@blueyonder.co.uk) and they are all no longer working, not only that but i can't log onto your portal. My entire life uses these email addresses and is going to be a major, if possible at all, task to get myself sorted out with other email accounts, really not viable at all. I have been with you guys since telewest, so a very very long time. Can somebody get back to me asap please with a fix, explanation of this change and also why i wasn't even aware of something so drastic it warrantied a letter in advance. Like many I needed to access my Virgin Media account to try and fix email issues. After being a customer for over 30 years I had multiple email accounts and now I am struggling to access and fix even 1 off them. When did the system change to the new VMO2 account and password login? Did I miss any information or has this just been very poorly communicated, or even communicated. How does this new system work, what needs to be done to access my Virgin Media account and old ntl world.com emails? I used to have a email linked to my account and from there I could see 5 ntlworld.com email addresses. Now I can’t see or manage anything on those email accounts. How do I add those addresses and change passwords? I try to set up a new VMO2 account but it goes around in circles and doesn’t complete, why? Do I need another non ntlworld email account to set up and access my Virgin Media account and emails? This seems crazy. When I even try to login or create accounts using some of my email addresses they are not recognised as if they don’t exist, yet my older iPad can still access and download messages? We have two 'ntlworld.com' email addresses that have always in the past been linked to our Virgin broadband/TV/phone account (that is still active) - one I use, one my wife uses. When I log in with the new Virgin/O2 ID, my ntlworld email is linked to the account and I can access my inbox in a browser (the webmail), and I can see ways to manage that email address (e.g. generate app passwords). However, my wife's ntlworld email is now not linked to my VMO2 ID and I can't see a way to add it. My wife has registered for a Virgin/O2 ID using the 3rd party email address that she used to login with but there seems to be no way to link that to her ntlworld account through the options in the Virgin/O2 ID settings. The only option I can see is to transfer the VMO2 ID link from our broadband account to her VMO2 ID which would then mean I have the problem she currently has but on my ntlworld.com email address! Is there a way that Virgin staff can link two ntlworld.com accounts to one Virgin broadband/TV/phone account? I have seen a few posts on here that seem to suggest people are still able to get e.g. app passwords for secondary accounts, but no clues as to how to access those settings. (BTW: access to the secondary email inbox via Apple Mail and iPhone mail app is currently working, but my big concern is what if something goes wrong - we currently have no way of generating a new app password for that secondary email!) Is there geo-locking on the IP address(es) used to access VirginMedia's WebMail and the MyVirginMedia websites? Or similar restrictions based on ip address / http headers/metadata? The reason for asking is that I was recently travelling abroad, and was initially able to send and receive email using the webmail site. Then something happened and I was unable to connect and got a 403 error when using My Account pop up links on the top right of https://virginmedia.com to "Sign in to My Virgin Media" and "Sign in to My Email": The requested URL was rejected. Please consult with your administrator. Your support ID is g-u-i-d Error 403 - Forbidden F5 site: pa2-par I was not prompted for a username or password, so it seems unrelated to a particular account. Same error on different devices (iPad and Android phone) on the same wifi network. Clearing cookies made no difference. On returning to the UK, the same device magically started working again. Feel free to reply by private message if this reveals some aspect of network security you do not wish to reveal to everyone. I get a 403 forbidden error attempting to access email or my account from the My Account pop up links on the top right of https://virginmedia.com . I am using Both Chrome and Safari on iPad. I was able to access email ok until some point last week. I am using a North American ip address. Note that I am not prompted for a username and password, so the account reset hints elsewhere in this forum are not applicable. Error messages follows: The requested URL was rejected. Hi, I have just realised I still have an Ntlworld email that seems to still be receiving messages. There’s a lot of junk in there and it’s been years since I used it so for security, I just want it fully closed down. I don’t recall the log in details but can still access from my phone. Does anyone know how to just fully shut it down? I haven’t been a virgin media customer for year so I’m surprised the account still exists! thanks49Views0likes2Comments
