Moving our omnibox/incoming service to the side of the house
We had Virgin broadband intalled last year when we moved in but have realised that it's in a bit of a daft spot as there's no power for the router/wifi AP in that corner of the room, and that leaves us with a 3m extension lead trailing through the lounge. I also want to try and run ethernet through the house and think it could be easier through the cupboard under the stairs as the airing cupboard is roughly above it and we can hide cabling that way. The easiest way to solve both our issues is to move where the services come in to the side of the house, directly the other side of the cupboard. Would it be doable? The total distance around the corner of the house is less than 10m. One complication is that our consumer unit & associated electrical board are on the other side of that wall and I'm not sure how much wiring will be hidden in the immediate vicinity.106Views0likes5CommentsOutside box has come off wall now no internet
Hi there, My omnibox outside was on the pavement last night after being detached from my house. It's in a really stupid place where passer-bys can easily kick off and damage although I think what has happened here is that because the wire running alongside the omnibox into my house was loose on the floor due to the wire tacs breaking, that someone has tripped over it therefore knocking the box off and the wires from the underground cable. I've tried connecting a wire onto the wire that is coming out from the pavement but I have no Internet still? The box inside my house is showing a red light also. I desperately need my Internet sorted for work purposes and TV etc. Can anyone help please? TIA752Views0likes2CommentsBroken omnibox
Hello all. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to neaten this up? We have been in contact with Virgin who did the original install in September last year. The first team from Avonline made a real pigs ear of it (smashed a hole in our doorstep) and although they repaired the doorstep, they haven't replaced the grey omnibox they smashed away at to complete the install. Virgin have sent an engineer out 4-5 times but each time they get here, the engineer says "we don't carry that part" or "our department doesn't deal with that but we will get someone will call you". They then take a couple of photos and we don't hear back from them unless we call them. We seem to be going around in circles but hope some of you guys may have had a similar problem and/or can suggest a straightforward solution. In case my photos can't be seen or they're pixelated, it's basically a broken omnibox we would like replaced and neatened up. Thanks in advance 🙂1.3KViews0likes5Comments
