Moving our omnibox/incoming service to the side of the house

We had Virgin broadband intalled last year when we moved in but have realised that it's in a bit of a daft spot as there's no power for the router/wifi AP in that corner of the room, and that leaves us with a 3m extension lead trailing through the lounge. I also want to try and run ethernet through the house and think it could be easier through the cupboard under the stairs as the airing cupboard is roughly above it and we can hide cabling that way.

The easiest way to solve both our issues is to move where the services come in to the side of the house, directly the other side of the cupboard. Would it be doable? The total distance around the corner of the house is less than 10m.

One complication is that our consumer unit & associated electrical board are on the other side of that wall and I'm not sure how much wiring will be hidden in the immediate vicinity.

Yes, VM can run the cable round the side of the house for £25. You might consider getting a protector for the cable where it runs under the door sill.

Yes, cable from omnibox rerouted is the best option. You could have the omnibox moved, but from your photos you would need a re-pull from the street box and this could take many weeks. I use may own router and wired Wireless Access Points and my hub is under the stairs, actually under the floor in the stairs cupboard. Gives very good cooling.

You can't get a repull for £25. What VM will simply do is connect another length of coaxial cable to the one terminated inside the omni box and run it around the corner.

If the OMNI box contains an ONT ( or a Coax cable ) it might be easier to leave the OMNI box as is ( avoiding a re-pull ) and have a VM engineer run a coax cable from the OMNI box to enter the house on the side of the building.

We have a similar system with about 10m of external coax from the OMNI box running horizontally & entering via the wall of my office where the Hub is located.
