XGS-PON FTTP Installation Issues
Hi, has anyone else who’s recently had XGS-PON FTTP installed experienced problems with the Hub 5x failing to obtain an IP address from Virgin Media’s network? My install and activation was scheduled for the 8th, but I’ve had no broadband connectivity for the last two days. An engineer came out today and attempted to escalate the issue to Virgin Media’s XGS-PON technical team. We’re the first household in my area to switch to Virgin Media. It’s a nexfibre build location where VM are the only FTTP provider. The engineer suspects that either being one of the first customers in the area, or being the only connection on the underground distribution unit, might be contributing to the issue. VM are currently investigating and have asked me to wait another 48 hours. Has anyone else run into something similar with their installation? p.s I had a look on the routers information page, it shows that the IPv4 lease time it obtains upon booting is set to one hour in the past, I wonder if this has anything to do with the issue.Text offering O2 sim but deal invalid when clicked?
Yet another text from Virgin Media which I'm apparently not eligible for - this time offering a O2 sim for £6 a month including the double data etc benefits. It's like they don't want my money with the broken upgrade options and now this! Anyone else have similar issues with them?Installation on 16th. How will they get to where it's needed?
Hi all, I live in an area that's just gone live with Nexfibre's network after the dig work was done back in March and I'm due to have Virgin installed on the 16th. My question is, how will they get the fibre to where I need it? It's a 60s built mid terraced house in a new town. It's of the radburn layout meaning the living areas are at the back of the house. The large window on the right is my kitchen and you can just about make out the Toby box in front if the bins which has two feeds, one for me and one for a neighbour. Ideally, I need the service installing in my living room as that large window above the bins is where my kitchen sink is. The living room is actually the small slit window to the left. The window is on the stairs with the living room behind it and ideally, I want the kit installing to the far rear corner of the living room which is where my TV, existing network stuff (including Openreach master socket) is located. Just under the streetlight is the edge of my house on that side and that's where the existing phone cable comes in, underground. There isn't an access point on the outside so I know a hole will need drilling. The metal panel under the streetlight is for the light itself and the little letterbox thing to the side of it is an old electricity meter spyhole for reading the meter. The electric meter is behind it, albeit in a small cupboard. As you can see, the toby is about a yard or so from my wall. I don't have any private area to the front of my house. Step out the door and you're in a public courtyard. Thoughts?
