Switching to Virgin from BT.
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this but I'm pretty desperate for an answer and given that it's New Years everyone's customer service lines are already closed. Okay. I'll keep it short. We switched from BT to Virgin Media about a month ago. At the time of signing I was told that VM would handle all of the switching stuff, including informing BT that we'd be leaving (and thus cancelling our contract). I got some emails from BT asking for us to stay, including one informing us of our exit-price and that they and VM would be in contact with one another to manage our switch and that they'd be in contact with us regarding our final bill and. However since then I've heard nothing and today I was issued with a £40 bill for the month of December. Now I wouldn't mind this as I had at first figured it was a final-bill, but I don't believe it is. My account also states that my next bill will be due on the 1st of Feb. Two months after I believe BT were informed of our switch. Our actual term is up as of today, but I'm under the impression we'll be switching over to a rolling contract or something similar. So yeah. What do I do in this instance? I'll be contacting BT at the first chance I get (probably tomorrow evening) but I'm a little confused as to what went wrong here, if anything? Thank you and sorry for not keeping it short.73Views0likes2CommentsOld Landline Box inside
I have an old analogue phone line socket I would like removed as I have recently joined back with Virginmedia and obviously now gone digital. Is this something I can remove myself or would an Virginmedia engineer be required. It is not something I would generally call them about. The thicker white cable to the right of the phone line socket is a satellite cable, but don't use that anymore either. Switched over to Virgin Media at the end of October.. had requested via the online website when signing up that our landline phone number be ported over from Sky. Got a text a few days later saying about "your new Virgin phone number is xxxxxxx" and I called Virgin immediately saying hwo we had requested that we keep our old phone number, the operator said he would request that for us. The hub delivery came on the 5th of November, couldn't set it up as we had no virgin box on the wall and the old cable was needing replaced, got an engineer out on Tuesday 11th November who installed it and when he set up the hub and phone line, I tested it and it was still linked to the new number so had to call a second time to ask about the number being ported and was ensured that the request had gone through for the port.I also dont't see why they're billing us from the 5th when I thought the first month was meant to be free but alsothat aside, we didnt't actually get to use any services until the 11th after an engineer installed it - 6 days later. It's now Friday and the number STILL hasn't been ported through. I'm scared we're going to lose our phone number at this rate, never had this bother in all the years we've switched between companies. I have a lot of patience and even I'm frustrated by this. I tried to call again today and can't even get through to a person to talk. Can someone please help?34Views0likes1CommentLandline number port from BT fiasco
Can someone point me in the right direction. I signed for a virgin package including home phone and for the number to be ported. After many promises from virgin (all phone calls and chats have been recorded by me). Despite numerous promises I have just received a message saying the the number can not be ported as it was disconnected. We did not do this. They expect my 85 year old mother who has had that same number for 60 years to accept the number they have given us. Unacceptable. I have read everything and it is up to virgin to resolve this. Does anyone know a good solicitor wii hi i specialises in this area as I have already spent days and lots of money on this (lost earnings). I want this resolved. I will not accept anything less than number reinstatement. Virgin media have been a total waste of time. I will also contact ofcom about this as I have read their guide line and virgin are at fault and wholly responsible.41Views0likes1CommentPorting a BT landline number to Virgin
