Evening all,
i just received the new remote and the app upgrade was showing. I followed the prompts but getting "error ma3/14/11"
I've followed others that advise to press power and + and restart and this did force a restart and did see it installing but looks like the old version and the app still fails with this error. I left it power off for 5 min too.
Any other ideas to try thanks before calling them.

Have you tried holding the power and - (minus) button.instead of power and + button?
It worked for red999docwho had the same error message as yourself on <this thread> yesterday.
And if that doesn't work a few other people with this type of error have managed to perform the update by either removing the box from the mains for five minues and trying again, or by deleting recordings to make more space and then trying again. (The migration process formats the hard drive and deletes all recordings anyway when it's successful)

resolved. tried the install just and now after the reboot it kicked in the install after a few sec from starting up. might off just needed to sync fully
