Get the message “oops we couldn’t connect to virgin 1 tv” when trying to watch recordings. Also get a similar message when trying to record things in the first place

Hi coxmge,
If you have a 360 main box and mini box and it's the mini box you are having problems watching the recordings on then the main box needs to be set to fast start or active start and in standby mode, if it's set to eco usually the message is "opp's can't connect to 'box name'.
How are both boxes connected to the hub wi-fi or ethernet cable?

this box is connected via ethernet - all diagnostics run clear and even most other recordings work. However TNT sport and eurosport recordings do not seem to, nor can i seem to record on these channels, despite other channels seeming fine.
the second box is connected thru shady wifi.
i am unsure but according to settings the box that is connected to ethernet is box 2, while the error message says box 1 cannot connect.

sorry - also it was in “active” but i switched it to “fast” this morn

Virgin box 1 is usually the default name given to the main 360 box with hard drive, normally the box that is connected to your main TV but not always. It's preferable to have this box connected to the hub using ethernet cable and set to fast start or active start so the mini box can wake it up if it's in standby.
Main box is on the left in the picture below.
If the mini box is connected using Wi-Fi if you are using the 5ghz band try using the 2.4ghz band it's not as fast but has a stronger signal.
If you haven't got 5G and 2.4G bands then you need to split your Wi-Fi network, instructions on how to do that are in link below, when you have selected Advanced Settings you will also need to select Wireless, Wireless Signal and click on Disable Channel Optimization at the bottom then click on Apply Changes.

If you are using Virgin's Wi-Fi pods don't split your network.
Virgins Wi-Fi pods require the hub's Channel Optimization to be enabled.

thank you. both boxes look the same.
Im confused as to why when i record on my main box it requires to be connected to the other box? the recording is not on the latter. it only seems to happen with tnt sport premier league, and i think also on australian open on eurosport

the confusing thing is that other recordings on tnt sport eg eng v india cricket does work.

If you have 2 upgraded V6 boxes both with hard drives you can see what is recorded on each box, I have a 360 and a mini box but I believe the following works;
If you go to Saved > Recorded > See all > and click on the Recorded tab you will see a drop down with the following options:-
Recorded, Recorded on this Virgin TV box, Planned, and Planned for this Virgin TV box. - highlighting "Recorded on this Virgin TV box" will just show those programs recorded on that box.
Are the recordings you are having problems watching in 4K.
