Virgin Box not showing on LG TV

Dean15
Tuning in

We recently bought a new LG TV and now when we plug the HDMI into the the TV we get an intermittent display of the virgin box.

If I plug the HDMI into a different device (xbox one) it shows absolutely fine with no issues. I've also plug the HDMI back into the virgin box and tried a different TV and again that works fine so I'm guessing it's a compatibility issue between the LG TV and the virgin box which I know isn't a virgin issue but wondering if anyone has had anything like this before?

Hi Dean,

How often is the intermittent display. If you deselect Automatic from the video settings and select 4K or 1080 setting does it make any difference. As long as everything is HDMI 2.2 complaint there shouldn't be a problem.

Hi Dean15,

I have 2 LG TV 's connected to a 360 main and mini box with no problems, what model number TV do you have.

Have you tried a different HDMI connector on the TV, if you are connecting directly from the 360 to TV see what happens if you don't use the HDMI-ARC connector.

Are you using a soundbar or any other AV device.

Hi Roy,

Thanks for the reply. We have a LG TV connected to our main 360 box with no issues whatsoever and have connected that to the mini with no issues either.

The new LG is OLED65C34LA and it does the same on both the main and the mini box. I've tried 2 different HDMIs and have tried all of the HDMI inputs on the TV too. We have a soundbar with it but at the moment that's just connected by Bluetooth to the TV.

Like I say just seems to be an issue when the virgin box is on the HDMI as other devices show fine.

It's constantantly either intermittent or just shows no display or sound.

I can't seem to find any setting to change settings from 4K to 1080. The only thing I've managed to find is something called Ultra HD Deep colour in the HDMI device settings that is either on or selects 4K can't see an option for 1080.

Hi @Dean15

You should try and change the settings on the 360 box to either 4K or 1080.  Settings > Audio & Video > HDMI Resolution (You can do this on the TV that recognises the 360 boxes)

You should also check to see if there is a software update available for your LG65C34LA  -  under Settings > All Settings > Support > Software Update.

I would also try turning the TV off (unplug it from the wall) attach the 360 box and turn it on, and then turn on the TV

Thanks for the suggestions I shall try these  tomorrow when I'm back home.

Hi Dean15,

Suggested trying setting on the 360 to 4K or 1080 because another user had a problem with their Samsung TV and the 360 box not liking the 360 box automatic resolution's check.

Has this new TV ever worked with the 360 box because someone else seems to think the 5.07 might be a problem with their Panasonic TV's in this thread

I assume you have tried a reboot of the box, you could also try a factory reset to see if that makes any difference.

It's only a partial system reset and not a complete factory reset. You are given 2 options,

Keep Recordings
Format Disk

Choosing Keep Recordings, means you won't lose your recordings and any planned recordings or series links you've set up, but you will have to sign into your apps such as iPlayer, Prime, Netflix and ITVX again, also Match frame rate and Standby power consumption will go back to their default settings if you have changed them.

I've just tried changing the settings to 1080 on the box then plugging into the TV whilst it was unplugged and then turning back on but still no luck.

Also checked, no updates for TV or 360 box.

As Roy posted below the 360 mini which were trying to connect to is running 5.07 wand the thread he linked to sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing.

Hi Roy,

Thanks for help again, interesting thread you linked to there roy sounds very similar.

I factory reset the box and then plugged back into the new LG TV and it gave me a signal to the TV however it then picked up a software update and installed it automatically then on reboot of the box reverted to no signal
