Noisy fan

Like other people, we are having a problem with a noisy fan. The problem seemed to start when it was upgraded to a 360 box. We have had an engineer who has changed the box but the noise, if anything, is worse now. Interestingly the first box he installed didn't work at all. Does this mean that the boxed being supplied are not new but reconditioned. The noise is loud enough to be heard over the programme sound and is really spoiling our tv experience. Can anything be done about this? We are well out of contract and one option is just to give up on VM altogether.

Sorry to hear of your concerns with how loud the fan is on the set top box.

Is the fan loud when you first switch on the set top box and remain this way, or does it gradually get louder the longer it's on?

Is the set top box placed in a well ventilated area out in the open?
