Why is the 360 interface so bad?
There are many quality of life features of the old interface which has just been dropped on the new interface.
Fast forwarding through your recorded shows, there is always a delay of a second or two from pressing play to the device playing the show. The old interface would take that delay into account by taking the video back another 20 seconds or so. This resulted in the video playing a couple of seconds before or right on where you wanted it to play. Great!
360 interface? No compensation for delays, especially for the devices increased lag. Fast forward and press play and the device has a think for 2 seconds while still fast forwarding and then plays it from there, resulting in the video playing several mins past where you wanted. You'll then spend the next 5 mins, fast-forwarding and rewinding, yo-yo-ing too far forward and too far back trying to get it to play at the right place.
Dont even get me started on the rewinding live TV. Old Tivo you can rewind and when you are finished, press the stop button and it went back to live. Now, I have to fast-forward through reach live.
This also affects on demand apps like the iPlayer or 4OD. When I want to STOP the show playing and go back to the menu, there is no stop button. There's a pause button, but pause doesn't stop it. Pressing the TV button asks if I want to go watch Live TV.
And Recorded shows.
Why is it like that? Why is the option at the very end of menu when it used to have its own dedicated button? I have to press the home button, then scroll right, through each lagy menu option (as it loads the bloatware for each option) to get to the my recordings option.
Why is the list of shows why is it displayed like that? The front page shows 4 recorded shows and the next 4 planned shows. Why does a list of things planned to be recorded have the same importance as things that have actually been recorded? And why is so much effort to just get a list of shows in alphabetical order like we used to have?
The 360 interface is definition of form over function. Since upgrading it we have actively avoided using it. The TV service could go down and I wouldn't notice.
I wish I hadn't downgraded to the 360, I just wondered if anyone else has the same feeling.

Hi @paulwads, thank you for you post.
We're sorry to hear you feel this way 😔
Is there anything in particular you don't like about the interface?

Daniel

Hi Daniel_Et
Thank you for picking up my post.
I think just miss the whole TiVo interface. The main things though are; the fast forwarding, and having to rewind as it doesn’t skip back 5 seconds. Also, the way it would pick up a particular show and record it using just a keyword. It’s not the end of the world though. Hopefully at some point these things can be some how incorporated.
As others have said, the TiVo interface - including the shape of the remote control, came together to make a very user friendly experience. Even the familiar sound when rewinding and navigating through the menu etc.
Best regards
Paul

Hi @paulwads
Thanks for coming back to the thread.
I must admit when I moved over from the V6 to the 360 it did take me a few weeks to get used to the new layout but I now wouldn't change it 🙂 hopefully you're feeling the same soon.
Best wishes.

Was forced to upgrade to V360 and it is terrible. Difficult to navigate. Not intuitive. I was able to retrieve accidentally deleted recordings on the old V6 but can't see that option on V369. A big mistake Virgin!

Normally "me too" posts are generally best started as a new thread, but this is a general point, so...
No-one is forced to convert, the process is completely voluntary unless you're taking a new package which includes Disney+ or Paramount+ which are TV360 exclusive. In any other case, you are completely free to decline any offer to migrate. @Mike221

My current contract had come to an end and in negotiating my new contract I wasn't told I could keep my current V6 setup so in effect I WAS forced to take the V360 ( and had to lose all my recordings in the process

I stand by my previous post!!
You may not have been told you could keep your V6, which sounds like you presumed you had to migrate to TV360 and either didn't query or the agent didn't correct you. That doesn't sound to me like force, but incorrect assumption.
Feel free to correct me if my assumptions are invalid.

Hi, we migrated to 360, under the impression it was compulsory. However, we are trying are best to like it and so far mostly do. However, can you tell me how to move forward a page at a time, not individually, in the Guide list.

Press the channel up/down buttons to move a page (right by the mic button)

Hi @MarshieP
It sounds like you've been using the navigational button to move down one channel at a time in the EPG.
Press the down channel button to move down one page at a time.
