Annoyingly in the past 2 - 3 days recorded programmes freeze (buffering) accompanied by a message that begins "Your networks too busy....."
I have rebooted box and checked connections - the problem persists...
Any suggestions/help gratefully received

The box is saying that there is not enough bandwidth on your home network to play the recording. Is this a mini-box you are having problems with?
If so, how is it & your main box connected to your VM hub, WiFi or Ethernet?
