360 box disables TV functions

I got my new 360 box working today, but had an odd issue with the TV. Even if the box is in standby, I am unable to change channels, adjust the colour/brightness, or even turn the TV off! The only thing that works is the volume buttons.

I had to disconnect the HDMI lead, then completely disable HDMI-CEC in the TV’s settings menu to get these functions to work again. But this also means I cannot now use the 360 remote to turn the TV on and off.

Is it normal for the 360 box to do this, and if not, is there a setting I can change so it doesn’t disable the TV functions?

  • You could try turning the "One power" setting to off on the 360. You may need to consider buying a CEC less adapter from Amazon.

    What TV do you have

  • Hey Tom41, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear this.

Did the advice help of turning the one power setting off?

Do  let us know now 🙂

Sadly not. The TV remote functions are constantly disabled regardless of whether One Power is turned on or off. But since we don't have Freeview, Sky or anything other than Virgin in that room, the TV remote is not really used except for power. Using the One Power setting allows the 360 box to turn the TV on and off and that's all we really need for now.
