I am renovating the sitting room and the white coax box where the outside virgin media cable comes through the wall and connects into is old and so I have thrown it away. I’ve kept the inside which consisted of a vocom tv/fm isolator 5-1000 mhz vc300. I have now disconnected this and used a newer module I have found on Amazon (image attached). My internet works and tv works with the new module. I read somewhere that this isolator helps if there is an electricity surge? Do I still need this isolator or does the new module superseed this?

Technically you shouldn't be using your own hardware, even the cabling should be supplied by VM.

Is it not Virgin media hardware? it has the virgin media logo and said “genuine virgin media”

Not supplied and fitted by VM.
The isolator is required for old installs, however, I believe the newer cable, pictured, may contain an isloator in the cable (A 'bulge').

So is the module not genuine VM hardware - it has the logo? - if it is then that’s supplied.
Cables were fitted already, I installed my broadband and TiVo why get an engineer to unplug and replug a cable into a new module, it’s a bit of waste of everyone’s time here?

SUPPLIED AND FITTED by VM.
If it works leave it as is.

Appreciate you trying to answer my question but I am not satisfied with your answer or your tone. I would really like an employee from VM customer service to answer the question. Otherwise why are these modules being sold on Amazon with the VM logo and being described as genuine Virgin Media parts, moreover if they are being sold online, it’s presumed anyone can purchase these and fit them.

Good luck getting a straight answer from VM when using your own hardware.
Terms and conditions here (Section E, part 3):
"Please do not move any equipment. Should
you later wish to alter the routing or location of any existing equipment
such as cables or wall sockets, you should contact us."
It can take several days for a response, and they very rarely reply in this section of the community.
Probably more appropriate here:

Your new faceplate advert claims to have an isolator in the faceplate (presumably within the moulded plastic sticking out of the front of the Euro module).
As per carl_pearce, if you are using one of the new VM cables, it will have an isolator built into it (the white plastic box in the example below).
So, in fact, you probably have two isolators in your connection arrangement (as will many VM customers using existing wall boxes and new VM cables)
You make modifications to the VM wiring at your own risk. Your 'genuine' VM parts may well be actually genuine but there have been past cases on here where 'genuine' parts bought online did not meet the required VM spec's when in use (including a VIP who had a knock on the door from VM checking noise on the network after a family member did a bit of DIY rewiring with some 'genuine' VM cable bought online).
The non-fault callout charge for a VM tech has been reduced from £99 to £25. I have read on here that this was done to discourage customers from buying their own parts online and making their own wiring modifications.
