Hub power supplies

My hub 3 has a separate power supply to the outside dropbox. When my friend got a new installation with a hub 5 he didn't need a separate supply. Does that mean the hub 5 supplies the dropbox via the...

    Neither RFoG(Radio Frequency over Glass, still DOCIS) nor coax DOCIS is better. Eventually the RFoG will be transferred over to full fibre with no DOCIS involved.
