Sound but no picture on my M1 macbook

macOS: 14.6.1 (23G93)

chrome: Version 127.0.6533.120 (Official Build) (arm64)

I've tried both Chrome and Safari. I get sound but no pictures.

I've seen many people have had issues like this in the past and I've checked a few of the things I've seen recommended: enable hardware acceleration, disable Ghostery, etc... None of that made any difference.

I believe that this application is supposed to work on my platform, so what am I doing wrong?

In case anyone else hits this problem, I figured out the solution.

"Screen Sharing" was running on my laptop. I disconnected the remote computer and the picture suddenly appeared.

I guess this is a variation on the errors I'd seen elsewhere in the forum about screen sharing or connecting to an external source etc...

The disappointing thing is that the issue is a "silent fail" with no clear diagnostics about what you can do to address the fail.
