Hi,
I recorded some F1 yesterday and watched half of it (recorded on my main box, watched on my mini box).
I now want to watch the second half on my iPhone. The app can see the recordings, and tries to start the stream but fails. I don’t think I’ve ever managed to successfully stream a UHD recording. Is this something supported by the app?

Hey jameselson, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear this.
Right now the app main broadcast is HD, anything above this will depend on the channel.
However the app will always try and broadcast the best quality it can do.
Look out for any future updates.

Hi, I have the same issue as the OP.
UHD recording plays on both TV boxes but when I try to play from the TV Go app (build 5.10.9253+12927) I see the same as the OP.
This occurs on TV Go installs on my iPhone (15 pro), an iPad and an Android application.
I raised a support request about this and an engineer was sent out today. They said that their internal system has no record of anyone else having this problem. They suggested that the device may not be capable of playing the UHD content. My phone is a current model iPhone so if mine can’t then no iPhones can. It was also suggested I can use the Sky app to watch the content, which is not possible when not live. Which is the point of having the recording like the OP.
I have resorted to recording both the UHD and HD versions.
So I repeat the OPs question, is it possible for the TV Go app to play recorded UHD shows? If it can, then why is it not working for myself or the OP?
I know that I was only recently upgraded to UHD channels, if that changes anything.
@jameselson, you manage to get this working for yourself?

Probably another downfall of the hybrid system VM are having to use to operate Horizon on a local disk rather than the cloud. I have always wondered whether the playout from the box remains local, or goes back to the headend server & then out again to the device. Horizon boxes in mainland Europe can stream outside the home address on any connection.

Hi and thank you for posting @deanx2k
The capability for UHD would be dependent on channel availability and the device capacity.

Ok, so I have a Sky F1 UHD recording that I am playing on an iPhone 15 pro. So the content is available and the phone is a current model. Why doesn’t it play?

I suspect the same, seems as though it doesn’t allow direct play of a UHD channel, so would be nice for a similar “You can’t do that” message for recordings too.
What would also be nice for someone at Virgin to be able to answer with authority rather than just user speculation.

Hi Deanx2k,
Thanks for your reply and sorry for the frustration this issue has been causing!
I did some digging on my side before replying to you and have found confirmation that UHD is not compatible with the TV GO App.
I hope this eases any frustration for you now that you know it's nothing to do with your devices!
If you have any questions off the back of this then please let us know!
Thanks,
Meg
