WiFi speeds dripped recently

Xopher

I used to get 250mbps in my bedroom now its dropped to 40mbps for the last week.

Haven't any new devices, nothing has changed.

I do have a WiFi pod in another room but think I probably need another.

Any tricks for improving my WiFi speeds?

Chris

Have you confirmed your HUB is still getting full speed over the VM network?

Hi @Xopher

Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community.

Sorry to hear of the issues with the wireless speeds.

Please do as Carl suggested and at that website, as it tests the speed the hub is getting.

Also use the Connect App to do further wireless scans in the rooms as well as this will help optimise your connection where it's needed too.

Finally, you've stated you've got a Pod in 1 room, please ensure the Pod isn't sitting directly in the room itself where you're using it, it's meant to be placed halfway between the room and the hub itself for maximum coverage - https://www.virginmedia.com/wifi-max explains more.

Haha. I noticed the typo as soon as I posted but couldn't see a way to edit.

Thanks Carl that a really useful site, really appreciate you sharing it. I fixed the problem in the end with a simple router reset. Maybe it's just needs a refresh now and again.

I now get 1100 download via router and about 300 via WiFi. I assume that's expected via WiFi?

Depending on your device capability, yes.

Which device and model were you testing with?
