Slow router speed, upload ok

I'm on a Gig1 subscription but only getting around 40 Mbps download speeds. Confirmed via Samknows and Virgin checker says it's a "intermittent" issue. Anything I can do or do I have to try and get a technician?

Edit: This is after resetting the router, with only my desktop connected via Ethernet cable.

Double check by calling 0800 561 0061. Also check that your cables and connections are tight and in good condition.

I'm having this exact same problem like identical speeds pretty much.

Activated new hub 5 router on Tuesday and called them on Wednesday and pretty much just said give it time to kick in. Well now its Friday and nothing has changed.
