      Yes Modem Mode.

Out of interest why would unplugging the patch cable fix it? You thinking it's spanning tree related or some form of port sensing?

Unplugging the patch cable has no effect.

Only a full restart of the superhub returns normal Internet.

This is deffo a SH problem

    Did it fix it?

I know my BQM went wrong when downloading over night

you should disable spanning tree if your ACL with a switch with the hub to before your router

I had already rebooted it before you replied. I'll try your solution when it does it again.

Hey Minichris23, thank you for reaching out and I am sorry to hear you are having some spikes and connection issues.

Did the advice help in the end or are you still having these issues?

That BQM trace is very unusual, a solid block of disconnection but including some fast responses getting through.

Have you done a factory default of the Hub?

VM are going to be a pain if a firmware messed up modem mode and tell you to use router mode😟

what is your setup and what are you using a router?

Seems odd I take it the UDM Pro is directed to the hub? Maybe change the cable but that seems unlike.

Would be interesting to Wireshark ARP and DHCP to check for problems but maybe you could change the WAN MAC on UDM Pro to what your PC has to get a new IP and see if it still happens.

Are you connecting your unifi to the Hub using this sequence ?  Try it.

      _______________________________________________________

Switch on and set up your own router (in its settings) is set to have its WAN port set to be in.. Dynamic/Automatic IP or DHCP (& Nat) mode, it may be pre-set that way anyway. Then, disconnect all cables from your new router and switch it off and unplug them. Then, put the VM Hub into modem mode ( https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-hub-modem-mode ) and wait for the base light to turn magenta/purple (on a Hub3 - but green on a Hub4 or Hub5).

Once it’s in modem mode, the VM hub “MUST” then be powered off.

Then Switch your router on and make sure it’s fully initialised (leave 5 min) and then put in the Cat6a ethernet cable from its WAN port to the VM hub (any port will do).

NOW… power up the VM hub and wait 5-10 minutes for The Hub to initialise and and you should get a connection. Use the recommended App to connect any other Mesh units to the first one.

This order only needs to be done the first time you connect the router to the VM hub. You might also set the SSID and key/password on the new router/Mesh to match that on the HUB so when you swap over, all your wireless devices should just connect automatically.

They have a BQM setup I think they know how to do modem mode just that the connection for some reason drops out needing a reboot of the hub

It's a nuisance, but sometimes a factory reset is needed. Remember to let the Hub restart in its own time after holding down the button.
