Asus RT-AX82U speed on 1Gig Fibre

Hi,

I've just upgraded to 1 Gig Fibre.

I use the Hub 5.0 in modem mode connected to my Asus RT-AX82U router with a mesh system.

I tested the speed when I received the hub 5.0 and was achieving 1100 Mbps+. I have a large house and outbuilding so need to use the mesh system.

My download speeds are roughly 750 Mbps wired or wifi.

Is this due to the WAN port being limited to 1gig. If so would this ASUS RT-AX86U Pro (AX5700) Dual Band WiFi 6 Extendable Gaming Router, 2.5G Port, Gaming Port, Mobile... allow me to achieve the advertised speeds of 1 gig?

Can anyone offer any advice on how to improve this?

Thank you for any help received.

Mike

With the hub in modem mode and using the 2.5G port on the Hub5 you should be able to get a higher speed on wired, but then the WiFi speed will depend on your own router. On my Ubiquiti router and Access Points I can get 985/101 on my iPad Pro.

Hi Mike,

What speeds to you get to the hub and your device using https://samknows.com/realspeed/

Have you connected your Asus RT-AX82U to port 4?

This is the bottom one and marked in red as 2.5Gbps which should provide 1100+ speeds

If all your wired devices are being served from a 2.5Gb switch, then they will all get approx.1150MB or so.  If all your Wifi devices are Wifi 6 you will see similar speeds.  NOTE -  All your devices, wired or Wifi will also need to support these higher speeds.  Don't expect >1GB speeds just because the BB circuit is over 1GB, it really is complex, especially the Wifi end of things.

These are my results from my desktop which is connected via ethernet to the router in the 2.5Gbps slot of the router in Hub 5.0, in router mode.

I will now change it to modem mode and connect my Asus AX 82U and see what results I get. Wifi and ethernet.
