hi there seems to be a problem with the speed for the last month or so it don't seem to go above 100mbps even though i have 1gig. i even reset the hub 5 to see if that would fix the problem but still didn't get anywhere near 1gig not even 200mbps on speed test was between 30 something and 100 something mbps.
this is the information in the superhub if it helps

Other than a few downstream channels having several thousand pre rs errors, which were corrected anyway, the stats look ok.
What does this site show?

Hi BubblesLittle
You won't get full speed on wifi connections.
Have you used an ethernet connection to test the speed? Preferably using a PC/laptop.
Have you ensured that the ethernet cable is snugly connected? Also have you tried a different ethernet cable and/or port? Ethernet cables can deteriorate
If so check that the adapter settings are set to either 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex or 2.5G
Press the Winows key and type in ethernet. Then select ethernet settings. Then change adapter settings. Double click Internet and it should show the speed as indicated on the picture below.
If you need to change it change it, click Properties followed by Configure then scroll down as shown on the right and set the value to 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex.

computer is connected by ethernet it don't matter what device i use still same speed. nothing has changed all the same as when it was working right only thing that changed is we are not in contract with virgin anymore

"we are not in contract with virgin anymore" do you mean you have cancelled your VM contract? If your contract has reach the end of its 12, 18 or 24 month period you are automatically put on a 1 month rolling contract. Your contract with VM only ends if you cancel it.

very strange connected to hub 5 wifi with phone and speed test was over 400mbps but on the router from modem mode it don't go anywhere over 100mbps same as the other computers in the house but then connected the xbox series x to the router and tried to download a game got over 700mbps was thinking maybe it's my tplink router but that don't make sense if xbox got 700mbps. might buy a new router and see but it won't make sense if xbox gets that but no other devices on the network are not.

It’s ok got my son to look and he seems to have narrowed it down to either the cable going outside to upstairs or the one that connects from outside from that cable into my room upstairs he going to test them in the week to see and then we go from there as it seems all a sudden one of them is reporting as maximum speed 100mbps in my switch on the port the cable is connected to instead of 1000mbps so something up with one of the cables

"maximum speed 100mbps in my switch" - Could it be as simple as there is 10/100 switch involved ?

No surely no one would buy a 100Mb switch and complain that VM is slow....guess thats why VM don't support connecting a switch.🤔
