Hi,
Just had a phone call from 016196474xx on my landline claiming to be from Virgin Media that they have serious Error Reports on my internet connection. Asked me how I browse the internet, I said stand-alone PC and when I said I could not open up the PC for them to show me the errors they simply put the phone down on me. I then looked on Who Called Me and the number relates to a Manchester Area for Sky. I am not prepared to just open up my PC to anyone who calls me as far as I know, it may be just a scam.
Is this Virgin Media or indeed another scam?
Been using the PC today, TV and main phone which uses the internet and no issues.
[MOD EDIT: number edited in case it's an innocent number being spoofed]

This was a scam call, as you have already suspected.
VM does not make outbound tech support calls out of the blue in that way.

Posting numbers “used” by the scammers is useless & can be counter productive. The numbers they use can be randomly generated, & can be in non-existent ranges. But on more & more occasions they are now cloning numbers of legitimate companies & residential customers.
