Is 0800 052 0557 a legitimate phone number

I received a call from this number offering to sell me an upgraded broadband they’ll be calling me back tomorrow so I just wanna know is this legitimate before I give any information up

In reality it does not matter whether it is a genuine VM number or not.

Scammers always spoof (fake) the number that appears in caller display. They do that so they appear to be from a genuine organisation and also to hide the real number the scammers are calling from.

So you should never rely on the number in caller display to confirm whether the caller is genuine.

For what it's worth, that number has a poor reputation on the very useful "who-called-me" website.

I recently tried to order a new broadband for my house. I received a call from a man trying to upsell me i declined he then told me that we needed to finish the order. He then asked for my bank information which i declined to give over the phone . He then told me he would need to cancel my order until i gave my bank information to customer service. I've tried the chat bot but been waiting for over an hour now so I'm guessing it doesn't work i cannot find an email or phone number to call anywhere atm to try to confirm anything.

I personally don't like confirming numbers as it can be easy to spoof the numbers nowadays. If you're ever unsure, the best thing to do is put the phone down and contact us on 150 / 0345 454 1111. You can also find other contact options here

In terms of upgrading the broadband, if you already have a Direct Debit, there shouldn't be a need to re-confirm this however sometimes the team will need to verify the details.
