wireless device Internet packet loss when wired device active

When my xbox is on and active with ITVX my pc which is wireless gets severe lag in games like LoL

how can i set up port forwarding to sort this?

should this even be happening? I would imagine a wired device should have no impact on the speeds of a wireless device

When experiencing lag in online games like League of Legends (LoL) due to network congestion, it's important to understand that various factors could be causing the issue. While having a wired device (Xbox) shouldn't directly impact the performance of wireless devices (PC), network congestion and prioritization of traffic can still cause issues.

Port forwarding is generally used to allow external devices to communicate with specific services or applications within your network. It's unlikely that setting up port forwarding would directly resolve your issue, as it's more related to how your network traffic is managed rather than specific ports being blocked.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the lag issue:

Check Network Speed: Verify that your internet connection is stable and has sufficient bandwidth for gaming. You can use online tools or speed test websites to check your network speed.

Check for Network Congestion: If multiple devices are using the network simultaneously, it could lead to congestion and impact gaming performance. Try to limit the number of active devices or prioritize gaming traffic in your router settings.

Quality of Service (QoS) Settings: Many routers support QoS settings, which allow you to prioritize certain types of traffic over others. You can prioritize gaming traffic over other types of traffic to ensure a smoother gaming experience.

Update Router Firmware: Make sure your router firmware is up to date. Manufacturers often release firmware updates to address performance and security issues.

Optimize Wireless Connection: Ensure that your PC has a strong and stable connection to the router. You can try moving the router closer to your PC or using a Wi-Fi range extender to improve signal strength.

Check for Interference: Wireless signals can be affected by interference from other electronic devices or neighboring networks. Try changing the Wi-Fi channel on your router to minimize interference.

Wired Connection: If possible, consider connecting your PC to the router using an Ethernet cable instead of relying on a wireless connection. Wired connections generally offer lower latency and more stability compared to wireless connections.

Hello everett4.

Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.

Sorry to hear about the lagging on your console.

Port Forwarding is what allows remote computers (like your game server) to connect to a specific device within a LAN (like your PC or console).

If you wish to try it and lest us know how you get on that would be very much appreciated.

We do have the process here if you wish to test it and let us know how you get on.
