currently have a hub 4 on a vm500 package and have come for renewal and gone for the faster package - online it states “broadband installation” does that mean that they will be running fiber into the house or will they just send the new speeds to our hub 4 as we just had varying problems with our hub 4 so preferably would want a new hub if at all possible, do VM over the phone know if this will be the case or not?

thanks

The Hub 4 is still used for the 1Gb Tier.  I would think they will just send a new config file to the Hub and this will allow the 1Gb speed.

Hope not, as this hub 4 is [MOD EDIT: Language] poor at dishing out signal inside of our small flat. Wouldn’t mind if I was asking to fill a large family home with broadband but currently the only way of getting a faster speed that 5mbs in the bedrooms which is 7m from the hub maximum is via a 50m Ethernet cable draped through the flat. Additionally had read that the hub 4 Ethernet ports are “gigabit” but max out at 950mbs

VM only guarantee a Wifi speed of 30Mb and supply up to 3 Pods for 1Gb Tier users.  As for "Gigabit", that is correct due to the limitations of the ethernet specification. not a fault of the Hub 4.

I understand the 30mbs but 6 is rather different to 30 so will have to look into getting the boosters if not. A hub 5 has 1x2.5gbs and rest gigabit ports and the new fiber hub 5x has 1x10gbps so rather hoping i get a sent a new hub otherwise i am not able to access the full speed of my internet package. will send the old hub back to them have no interest in keeping it as long as i can be sent new equipment.

Technically you can access the full speed across several devices.

If you haven't verbally agreed a HUB 5 as part of the new contract you'll be stuck with your HUB 4.

Didn’t verbally agree but low and behold have a hub 5 arriving tomorrow,

Looks like the stock availability is getting better then.

Hopefully BOTH the Hub 5 and power supply turn up   🙂
