The new Hub 3 lacks port forwarding and modem mode functionality, seeking help!

Hello everyone,

I recently installed Virgin Media's 500M broadband and am using the new Hub 3 device (Hardware version: 5.01). However, I found that my Hub 3 does not have modem mode or port forwarding functionality.

I have tried logging into the management interface but couldn't find settings for either of these features. I'm wondering if the new Hub 3 has removed these functions, or if there’s a specific step I need to take to enable at least one of them?

If anyone has encountered a similar issue or knows how to resolve this, please share your experience. Thank you!

This forum is for UK VM Residential customers.

Hardware version: 5.01 of the Hub 3 sounds like an installation in the ROI.

UK VM Hub 3 are usually Hardware version 10 or 11, these do have Port Forwarding and Modem mode.

If you are VM IE you will need to request you are set to IPv4 only.  VM IE use CGNAT for IPv4 and IPv6 so this is why you don’t have the missing features.

Thank you for your reply. Your assessment is correct; I am using this device in ROI

Thank you for your reply. I might try using only IPv4, but I may need an IPv6 network connection.

I don't think it's possible with VM IE, it either one or the other.  The IPv4 only solution is usually requested by gamers, who do not want CGNAT, but aren't fussed about losing IPv6.  If IPv6 is needed, then you will get CGNAT on the IPv4.  Otherwise, try Eir?  However I've no idea about their solutions.  If it was BT you would get full IPv4 and IPv6 without any CGNAT to worry about.

Thank you for your clear explanation. It seems there are no other options, as only VM wiring is available here.
