Be careful what you wish for. The Hub 5 is still a work in progress

The orbi wi-fi seems to be a highly rated system in reviews. It would be surprising if you got the same level of performance and control from a VM Hub 5 alone.

You most likely have a Hub 4.  These are the only VM Hubs to be fitted with a fan.  It may be a case of blowing out any dust that has accumulated over time.  You can power the Hub off and use a can of compressed air to remove any dust.

HUB5 is fine in modem mode. I used it after the firmware upgrade with no issues but then my switch (2.5gbps and 10G) wasn't cheap one.

In short, the GIG1 should come with HUB5 as VM always quoted you had to be on that package tier and why pay for GIG1 when others get a HUB5 on that tier?

HUB5 is much better with lines that have lower SNR as it has a more sensitive tuner in it that doesn't create noise.
