Dear all,

im having my new virgin media installed next weekend in my flat with a IRS system. I’ve had a pre install visit and they took photos. The question I’m asking is on Monday I have Virgin turning up to replace my faceplate which I assume is the one with my satellite and tv aerial connections but recent I had this fixed by a company called SCCI Alphatrack and I asked the engineer about getting Virgin media and he told me that they replace the faceplate and connect to virgin via the connection box outside wall. He also says that Virgin ask them to do this and then they charge Virgin. He had the faceplate in the van but couldn’t install it as the current job was not with Virgin. So will the visit on Monday be done as Virgin are coming out not SCCI. I’ve told customer services about this but not sure they understood.

Thanks and hope this makes sense.

David

I'd want to speak to the landlord, their agent, or the property management company
to confirm who normally installs the VM cables for residents.

The housing association agreed with virgin to install the cable into the Intergrated Reception System a few years ago and the coax cable for all tv inputs comes into the flat. My old neighbour had virgin installed but has left now but I took a photo of the socket with the Virgin coax connector with the satellite etc

That is the first time I've seen this faceplate on the forum.

The key question remains,  who is responsible for installing that socket in your flat ?
Could it be a contractor specified by the Housing Association ?

Well when the SCCI engineer came to repair my socket he told me Virgin media have to book them as that socket belongs to Virgin and SCCI charge virgin to replace and connect.

Just see what the VM Tech has to say and does, when they visit on Monday.

While I’m waiting the Virgin Media to turn up I found this webpage and it looks like my apartment block was part of project lightning to provide fast internet speeds in apartments. At least I something to mention to the engineer.

Well that was a wasted day off. Phone Virgin Media and there was no appointment down to replace the faceplate by the backend team. It was on the notes for today but appointment never confirmed. The chap emailed them again and hopefully will get a appointment before Saturday otherwise will need to cancel.

Update. After talking to SCCI alphatrack who said no appointment received by Virgin Media to change the faceplate and then contacting Virgin Media my appointment for the faceplate swap (SCCI) is now Wednesday 11th and the virgin media engineer the following day. The person I spoken to was helpful and apologies for the delay and got the appointment with SCCI. At least now I have appointments for both.
