So Last week I noticed a VM engineer in my Front garden!
he was sorting out BB for the Flat above!
As the underground duct collapsed years ago, as I Know and had to be re-cabled 9 years ago,
Now he has Cut and spliced their new connection onto mine!
Surely that is going to affect my bandwidth? and my 1Gb?
Is this correct or is it going to affect my connection?
He should have explained that it was not possible to my Neighbours and called out the cabling team!
So now I have a Spliced joint outside Wrapped in insulating tape so will become susceptible to the weather!
Very Unimpressed with this level engineer training!

Only you will be able to judge if the splice has caused any drop in the speed/quality of your connection.
The join should be suitably protected from the elements if it is intended to be a permanent arrangement. Splitting the cable in that way is sometimes done as a 'get-you-working' measure to reconnect a customer with a cable fault until a new cable is installed. Often the new cable never happens.
Post up some pic's of how the cable splice has been left which might result in someone being sent back to remedy it if it is unsuitable for long tem reliability.

In theory it should not affect your broadband feed, but it has to be done in a way that is properly protected from the weather and physical damage.

Hey TonyM, thank you for reaching out and I am so sorry to hear this.
Sometimes we do this as temporary thing until a team can come and install a cable for them.
How has your connection been, have you seen a drop in this?
Also was there any damage at all?

@Matthew_ML you will also have to arrange a new cable re-pull for the OP, because the technician has cut his coax and inserted a splice. That’s not good practice.

I do not consider this Adequate and since 16/09 I have had to reboot router 34 time so far
And I bet that a cabling team has not been informed!

If you look at the picture that I have sent. It certainly is not adequately insulated and I’m willing to bet that your lazy Engineer has not called out a cable pull team to resolve the issue of my neighbours connection!
it seems that you maintenance is now more sticking plaster rather than doing the job properly
