How far do you want to move it ?  If over 3m then you need to get a tech visit (call it in) to custom make the cable and rebalance the power levels

Hi Dada325 👋 Welcome to the community forum!

Thanks for posting and letting us know you need some support with your Hub's location.

We can arrange a hub re-location for a one off call-out-appointment charge of £25. We just need to send you a PM to confirm a few account details to arrange this for you.

You can find the PM in the top right corner of the page in your Inbox. 📩 We can then return to this public thread with another update when possible. Thank you for your patience in the meantime!

Wishing you all the best. 🌞

Molly

But if 3 metres is enough you can get that sent to you free of charge.

Hi Lpeg1

A 3-meter cable would probably be the most convenient solution for me. Relocating the hub would involve work done in the house and require taking a day off from my job. It’s just one corner of my house with weak signal, and being able to temporarily move the hub to a spot that improves Wi-Fi coverage when needed would be enough.

It seems that Virgin isn't able to provide a 3m cable or offer any details about the cable specifications, based on the response I received from their support team. I'm quite disappointed, to say the least.

That said, does anyone know the specific cable I need? I came across this one on the forum, which someone recommended:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/G-PLUG-Coaxial-Cable-Connectors-Ring/dp/B08LMX15BW/ref=zg_bs_g_528600031_d_...

Can anyone confirm if this is the correct cable? Thanks!

No, these cables are not VM spec, as they are the only DOCSIS cable provider in the UK & the cable is specifically manufactured for their use. DIY modifications cause many network issues for VM, so you need the VM supplied one. These are provided with quick-start kits for new customers & the Forum Team here can send them out.

Staff on here CAN arrange for a 3 metre cable and have done so. Wait for one to pick this up.

The cable VM use is not available from Amazon etc, regardless of what they say.

Thanks Nodrogd and Jpeg1,

Luckily, I didn't go ahead with the order, as I don't want to risk causing any network issues for VM. The private message I received from the Forum Team stated, 'we aren't able to send out 3m cables or provide details on their specifications.' Instead, they suggested arranging an appointment with an engineer

Perhaps there was a misunderstanding in my request, or the policy has changed. I hope the staff on here can help by arranging a 3m cable for me.

Well that would be a change of policy, and if so it was a stupid one because it will only encourage users to go out and buy inferior cable that might affect their connection and those of neighbours.

Forum staff on here have certainly arranged the 3m cables for other customers. Perhaps one of them could pick this up and advise?
