on friday i joined volt virgin media gig1, i previously was a virgin media customer 2 years ago and saw they had combined with o2 today i recieved the self install kit once installed i have a flashing red light i then called the activation number and was told it could take 3-24 hours is this normal?

Have you followed the advice on the following page? (it's the same advice for the hub 4 and the hub 5)

Please note the help page states, "press the Hub’s pinhole factory reset button for 10 seconds "
It's actually best to leave it pressed for a timed 60 seconds.
