Have you got a problem with your connection because of the cable damage?
VM's likely solution first of all (on the basis of least cost) will be a repair.
If you get a cable renewed/replaced, be aware that is not without its own potential problems. There have been past topics on here where a bungled cable replacement has resulted in the customer having no connection at all for an extended period (when the contractor pulled out the old cable to begin with but couldn't install a new one).
