Moved in in September, with agreed appointment for broadband setup established for post-completion date.
Prior to the agreed date, whilst the vendor was still in the property, Virgin installed fibre-optic cables without my consent. They led these across the road from a telegraph pole, pinning to the outside of my Victorian house in a haphazard manner. Since then, I have cancelled my contract as I was appalled by this conduct.
I have raised a complaint, and had innumerable calls with Virgin to arrange these cables to be removed. I have had 4/5 appointments to take these cables down - 'We will be with you between 0800 and 1300 tomorrow' - and no one has ever arrived to resolve the issue.
I have urged all friends, family and colleagues never to use Virgin. Simply exploitative.

Are you able to just remove them yourself ?

I would not recommend trying to remove fibre optic cables. And even if they did it the other end would still be attached to the telegraph pole over the road.

Let me try and understand this. You contracted with VM for broadband and VM installed the fibre early before the vendor had moved out. You are so appalled by this efficiency that you've cancelled the contract in a hissy fit.

I think if I am having something installed on the outside of the house I should have some say as to how that is carried out, where wires placed etc. They've made a huge mess. What they also don't tell you is that the line can only be used by virgin media, and if you decide you want any other provider that new fibre optic will be required.....

Hi devonhill3,
Thanks for your post and welcome to our community.
I'm sorry to hear you're unhappy with the pre installation work carried out.
It's normal procedure for any necessary pre works required to be completed prior to the installation date.
I'll send you a private message now to ensure your complaint is with the correct team.
Please look out for the envelope in the top right of the page and pop back to me when you can.
