moving superhub

I have a superub which was installed by Virgin a long time ago, it's located in a loft room with a coax cable running from the virgin box up a drain pipe and into a loft room . I now wish to move it from the loft room into the Front room.

I was wondering if I could cut the Coax cable so it would be just me long enough to go through the wall into the hub?

Would virgin have to do it, or would it be allowed to do it?

No you must get VM to move it for you so they can make the correct connectors and rebalance the power levels.

They will charge a reasonable £25.   Just call in and they should organise for you - or a VM person can sort that here in a day or two when they get here.

Hi Bobgarb 👋🏼.

Thank you for posting, welcoming you back onto the community forum 😊.

As advised by Jbrennand, we will have to move this and does come with a cost.

Have you managed to get this sorted or would you like this to go ahead?

If so let us know on here and we will reach out to you.

I've  decided to leave it till I re negotiate my contract later in the year and if I get a good deal and perhaps  the move of the superhub at a reasonable  price. I will go ahead with it.

Hi @bobgarb, no problem at all.

If you have any further queries at any point, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Regards,
Daniel

Don't let that £25 be a deal breaker when you come to negotiation time.

£25 to relocate a Hub is a very reasonable price !  Apart from the cost of new cable, connectors etc, a Tech has come out and do the moving of the cables, wall drilling, fitting a new internal connection box then connecting up and testing and adjusting/balancing power levels etc.

An hour's time perhaps... with parts included.... a bargain compared to an electrician, plumber, car mechanics, etc time costs.

VM used to charge £99 to do this but dropped it 2 or 3 years ago - I expect that was because a lot of customers attempted DIY efforts and just succeeded in introducing "noise" into the whole system.  I know my daughter did just that a few years back, when she moved her V6 TV box using longer co-ax cable, "approved" by Amazon of course 😎
