Router being moved, how do I prepare?

We booked in with VM to have our router moved from upstairs to our dining room. 

Has anyone had this done? What do we need to do to prepare? Can it be placed in the middle of the room or does it have to be on an outside wall only.

There's no technical reason why it can't be in the middle of a room, it might even work better away from the wall. But there will need to be a suitable mains socket as the technician won't install mains cables.
