Ordering Wi-Fi Pods

Hi,

I am looking to see how I would go about ordering a Wi-Fi Pod.

I am on the Gig1 Fibre Package and can see I am eligible providing my download drops below 30Mbps in certain areas of the house.

I have ran hub speed tests on the VM Connect app and it has advised me I might need Wi-Fi Pods.

Is it just the case of phoning in and ordering or can this be done via the forums here?

To address the wifi issues, VM now supply “wifi Pods” (no longer doing cheap and cheerless and poor value “boosters”). However, their Pods are only free to customers on the 1GB, Volt (or old Ultimate Oomph) packages - is that you? If so they are worth trying - they should work for you. VM Wifi is now “guaranteed” to 30 Mbps/room it’s now called… Wifi Max
See if anything in here helps….

You call 0800 064 3850 to order the first one after scanning for blackspots using the connect App.- or just wait here for a VM person to respond in a day or two and they will sort the first one for you. If you do call dont get fobbed off by the offshore CS agents' saying you aren’t eligible - if you are - it is clearly stated on the webpage.

If not free to you… you will be charged £8/month for up to 3 pods. It’s a simple solution and should work for you. However, you would soon pay off that cost by buying your own wireless solution that will be yours to own and use forever, although the VM Pods should be a simpler option.

If you do want to invest in better equipment, you would need to get either a… (1) Mesh System, (2) Wireless router, (3) Wireless access point(s), (4) a pair of good quality Wifi Powerline Adaptors, or a combination of (2&3).

  • Hi there Dancmiddleton

Thank you so much for your post and welcome to the forums, its great to have you here.

I am so sorry that you are experiencing some issues with your signal and thank you to jbrennand for their help and advise on this. Can I ask if you click the 'Learn about WiFi Pods' are you taking to a page where you can arrange an order at all?

      Hi Ashleigh,

It appears it just told me to reach out regarding seeing if I was "eligible" or not. I was able to phone up using the number provided by jbrennand and speak with a gentleman regarding ordering some pods.

They have taken down details and advised an order has been placed however have not received an email or text confirmation from them so I guess this will be a waiting game for the time being, if not I will just need to call back and chase this up.

        Hi Dancmiddleton

Thanks for letting us know. We want to ensure that one has been sent for you, so I'll drop you a private message so I can double check for you. 😊

  • Hello,

I need to order an additional pod (have 1 already) as download speed in one room is no more than 25 Mbps.  I have Volt and Wi-Fi Max enabled on my account, I just can't seem to find anywhere to actually order an additional pod.

I've tried calling the 0800 number to actually speak to someone (thanks John) but the call has been disconnected twice whilst I'm "being put through to an adviser" - after going through numerous menu options.

The Wi-Fi test result (in the Virgin app) doesn't trigger an option to order a pod despite guidance saying it will and trying to do it via the "My Package/Wif-Fi Max" option on the MyVirginMedia site just brings up a blank page.

I am losing the will to live....any help much appreciated.

    David

  • Evening,

same problem for me, I need to order my first pod. Can’t do it on the app as there’s no option. Called someone they said I was able to get one and to hold whilst they connected tech support. Then left me on hold for over 2 hours before I hung up.

  • I have run some speed test around the home and am getting less than 30mb in a few areas but do not have the option to order a pod via the app. How can I get one?
