How to Order Free Wi Fi Pods?

Been struggling for a few months with the WiFi strength in the bedroom which is used for working from home. Only just been made aware of the WiFi guarantee and the availability of Wi Fi pods supplied free of charge. I am unfortunately finding it puzzling to order one of these FOC pods and seem to be going round in circles on the Virgin website.

Please can anyone advise how you order a WiFi pod before I lose my marbles completely. Please note I am a Volt package customer.

Thanks in advance

  • "If a Pod is needed, you'll be prompted to order."

This does not work.  It does not enable you to order a pod (parents had this issue)

  • Also just had VM installed today, 1gb package - due to our house extension the wifi is horrible in half the house.

The installation tech told me to use the VM Connect app, which just doesn't work - keeps failing on the tests.

I get 5mb downstairs in my house over Wifi and 15mb in the young ones bedroom, how do I go about getting some of these Wifi Pods?

    Thanks
    Si

      Hi SaltKing

Thanks also for posting and welcome back to the community.

Apologies for any WiFi issues, I can see that you've contacted the team and got a Pod sent out.

There are a few requirements for the Pods to work with our Hubs:

      •    The Hub must be in 'Router Mode' and not have been changed to 'Modem Mode'.
      •    Channel Optimisation must be left on.
      •    The SSIDs must be the same and broadcast enabled.
      •    The SSID must be password protected.
      •    The Passphrases of the SSIDs must match.

As long as all of the above points are all met then the Pod should automatically connect to your Hub's Wi-Fi and begin broadcasting. The wireless details from the Pod will be the same as the Hub's details, so no additional steps are required to connect the devices in the home.

This link will help though if you do have any issues: https://www.virginmedia.com/help/setup/intelligentwifipod

  • Hi Tree60

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Sorry to hear of any WiFi issues and the impact it's having on your work.

Please download the Connect App and then when downloaded, do a scan in all rooms of the property. The app will scan for any coverage issues and optimise it where possible to do so.

If a Pod is needed, you'll be prompted to order.

      Hi John

      Hi John

I have done the test via the app twice, first time last Friday and again earlier today. The speed in the bedroom has been below the promised guarantee two times running. At no time was I prompted to order the free Wi Fi Pod even though the signal was poor. Why is there not a tab that I can just access to order a free pod? Still going round in circles.

Thanks for confiming Wibble I am going round the bend trying to find the prompt to order.

Yet again Virgin making it as difficult as possible to access something which they promise for free!! Disappointing!!
