Drop cable replacement

HI

Was told I was having a drop cable replaced today, due to fault on my system.

All they have done is replaced the 1.5m from the house, by connecting a new bit of cable to the old. the joint is under the grass, rapped in tape in the green pipe.

Is this a drop cable replacement or just a bodge at the end of the day?

VM repairs broken cables using a gel-filled plastic box which seals the connectors inside a waterproof gel. The box is often orange in colour in past images on here.

VM deems this to be a 'permanent' repair.

Varying degrees of cable repair bodging may take place depending on who exactly VM sends to do the repair, the time they have available and the tools/materials at their disposal.

Connectors wrapped up in tape may last OK for a while but, in the long term, are probably more likely to let water in the a gel box repair.

What has been the effect of the repair on your faulty VM connection? Has it changed anything for the better or not?

There is no gel box, just black tape. A waterproof box would make sense. This is photo of the joint.
