Connecting to my home wifi.

Anonymous
Not applicable

Im 85 and not particularly savvy with all this broadband/wifi stuff so please bare with me.

My home set-up is a BT Hub with a TP-Link AC1200 Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Router connected to cover the whole bungalow with a good signal.

I have just bought a Vorsprung WS6100 weather station but I (and several others on a WS Forum) are finding it very difficult to connect the station to the Wi-Fi.

These are the instructions in the manual:

One of my questions is where do I find the Settings menu and Connections WiFi men toned in the text. Are these in the BT Hub or the Router? I have a BT Hub manager page on the internet but looks very complicated and with a brief look I couldn't see anything like these options.

Any help will be hugely appreciated.

Just to be clear, are you actually on a Virginmedia broadband connection? I ask because you say you are using a BT hub, which suggests you are on a BT connection.  It would be difficult for us to suggest adjustments to a BT hub.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

Hi Cheddarman

I have had a look at the instructions you have posted.

The settings page you need is located on a built-in webpage on the weather station, your Weather Station creates it's own mini-Hub for you to connect a phone/tablet/laptop to in order to access the configuration page.

You need to disconnect a device (laptop/phone/tablet) from your home WiFi Hub, then temporarily connect to the weather station's built in mini-Hub in order to access the Weather Station's configuration page.

You can use any WiFi enabled device to connect to your Weather Station's built-in mini-Hub.

Step 1: Find an old device, turn the WiFi on, and find the page where it lists nearby WiFi networks.

Step 2: Press the "BARO/WIFI" button on your Weather Station for 4 seconds. Your weather station should now display "AP"

Step 3: On your device, find a WiFi named "WWS_xxxxxx" and tap to connect to it.

Step 4: Once your device is connected to this WiFi, you need to open an internet browser on this device. Such as Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox, etc...

Step 5: In the internet browser on the device, type the web address http://192.168.1.1

Step 6: The configuration page where you can configure your Weather Station should now be displayed. You will need to find the WiFi setup menu, then find your home BT Hub's name and enter your home Wi-Fi password here.

Hope this helps.
