2.4ghz - connecting devices

Hi,

Got a smart heating fan for my daughters bedroom.

Set it all up and went to connect it to my new super hub but it's only 2.4ghz connection and the hub is 5ghz.

Is there a way I can connect this device to a 2.4ghz frequency on my hub to get this to work.

Thanks

You should see 2.4 + 5ghz, if you open a Web browser and enter 192.168.0.1 and then your password to access your hub, then go to Advanced settings > Wireless signal and then tick the enable 2.4 GHz if it's not already ticked and then Apply changes.

VM hubs transmit both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz signals on a combined SSID. Some devices do not like this and refuse to work. If you do not have VM pods you can separate the bands into 2 SSIDs. Go into the settings on the hub and give the two SSIDs different names link xxx-2 and xxx-5. You can the connect the device to the xxx-2 SSID name. If you have VM pods is more lengthy, but come back if you need these instructions.

Its the Hub 4 i have if this helps.

Hi valleyboy22,

If you have Virgin's wifi pods you need to have Channel Optimization enabled for them to work.

If you haven't got 5G and 2.4G bands then you need to split your Wi-Fi network, instructions on how to do that are in link below, when you have selected Advanced Settings you will also need to select Wireless, Wireless Signal and click on Disable Channel Optimization  at the bottom then click on Apply Changes.

If you are using pods don't split your network.

Hi, I would like those instructions please.

I have the pods so can't split my networks. But I have a smart TV which constantly disconnects and reconnects on the 5ghz network, so want to force it to connect to 2.4ghz only. Thanks.

Time to retire the VM Pods & remove the VM Connect app, they are both blocking your way forward to a split SSID.

Invest in your own Wi-Fi Mesh / Access Points / Repeaters and you will have full control over the Wi-Fi network.
