Virgin cold calling

MrsM4
Tuning in

Not used to posting so apologies if in wrong area.  Been with virgin for decades and currently just into a new contract from June this year.   We are incessantly being called multiple times a day and multiple days on end on our registered mobile to upgrade our package.   We don't want to upgrade, we are happy with what we have.  We've told them endless times and tell them not to ring again and they still do.   VM asked us for feedback generally on their service and this was the only thing that was on our list.   We are still being cold called and we are fed up with it.   We are going to unplug the landline but can't switch off our mobile

Saw something on the community page that said change your marketing preferences and change phone number to 123.  Logged into our account and forced to create a new email address for now logging into our account!   Done.  Can't  deselect all marketing preferences.  Can't change the telephone number to the suggested 123.  Account settings also shows new email for logging into account (think) and getting security codes but general account settings still show old email that i guess is now redundant but stil there.  What a faff to go through to stop these calls and still don't believevdone what is necessary to stop the calls. , I don't understand why things are so difficult.   Are we doomed to keep receiving this insessent amount of cold calling and unwanted upselling, and how can I get myself out of the loop and make my account settings match my new email and take myself off VM marketing?

You need to scroll a little further down that page to the next section named Marketing Consent.  There you will a green box with tick inside it. Click that box to remove the marketing consent. Then click on Save Changes.  That will stop all phone calls from VM  but it can take up to 30 days to take effect. ( if you have an O2 sim you need to do the same within your O2 account)

Can't change the telephone number to the suggested 123.

It looks like you are referring to a post on <this thread> which suggested changing the contact number to the speaking clock (123)

If you tried to change the contact number to that number then it probably wouldn't be saved as it doesn't follow the correct format. The fields would be expecting an 11 digit landline or mobile number

Many thanks newapollo, I have updated my marketing preferences now following your direction.  Hopefully in 30 days, if not sooner, the cold calling will stop.   Happy for my number to remain listed;  if VM adhere to the marketing preferences I have now set changing the phone number won't be necessary. 🙂
