Refer-a-friend transaction not showing up

Hello,

I referred a friend to Virgin Media through the referral scheme on 25/05/2024. I sent them my referral link and was next to them while they completed their purchase of a broadband subscription after clicking my link.

However, neither me nor my friend have received any confirmation from Aklamio that a purchase has been made through the referral link, and we have no rewards showing up as pending on the Aklamio website.

It seems that the referral has not been properly registered. Is there anything we can do to register the referral at this stage? Or does my friend have to cancel his service and purchase it again through the referral link?

You are not alone.  It seems that this is a scan where Aklamio and Virginmedia both say that you have to go to the other one, it's all your fault or some other excuse until you get fed up and forget all about it.

If your fried wants to cancel they will have to do it within 14 days of being connected, but that won't help either of you get the money.

My name is NOT Alessandro. That's just a tag Virginmedia sticks on some contributors. Please ignore it.

Here's someone else with the same problem

Thanks for your reply. I have previously referred friends and have had no problems, so I am wondering why it did not work this time. It seems like the referral has not been registered at all, even though my friend did use the referral link I sent him. Maybe this is related to cookie settings in their browser or so?

The thought with cancelling was more that we could cancel this contract, and try setting up a new contract again through the referral link, hoping that the referral would register this time. But maybe someone from Virgin Media support is able to register the referral to the existing contract so we don't have to jump through the hoops of cancelling and signing up again.

Hi @mathiasj

Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community.

I am afraid the Refer a Friend issue we cannot assist with from here.

For help with your referral account, and if you referred a friend after 12th March 2020, get in touch with Virgin Media’s referral partner Aklamio by sending an email to virgin-media@aklamio.com.

Knows their stuff

The scam has started - you are now supposed to get fed up and go away

We are so sorry again @mathiasj  that this has happened and we can fully understand your frustrations.

Please do continue to chat with Aklamio and they will do all they can to assist with the credit.

But @Ashleigh_C youknow it is not possible to "chat with Aklamio". They will just send him back to Virginmedia again.  You've gained a new customer without having to pay the promised reward.

I know you aren't personally responsible for this, but doesn't it feel wrong?
