You are not alone. It seems that this is a scan where Aklamio and Virginmedia both say that you have to go to the other one, it's all your fault or some other excuse until you get fed up and forget all about it.
If your fried wants to cancel they will have to do it within 14 days of being connected, but that won't help either of you get the money.

Thanks for your reply. I have previously referred friends and have had no problems, so I am wondering why it did not work this time. It seems like the referral has not been registered at all, even though my friend did use the referral link I sent him. Maybe this is related to cookie settings in their browser or so?
The thought with cancelling was more that we could cancel this contract, and try setting up a new contract again through the referral link, hoping that the referral would register this time. But maybe someone from Virgin Media support is able to register the referral to the existing contract so we don't have to jump through the hoops of cancelling and signing up again.

Hi mathiasj
Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community.
I am afraid the Refer a Friend issue we cannot assist with from here.
For help with your referral account, and if you referred a friend after 12th March 2020, get in touch with Virgin Media’s referral partner Aklamio by sending an email to virgin-media@aklamio.com.
